“We don’t need to have just one favorite. We
keep adding favorites. Our favorite book is always the book that speaks most
directly to us at a particular stage in our lives. And our lives change. We
have other favorites that give us what we most need at that particular time.
But we never lose the old favorites. They’re always with us. We just sort of
accumulate them.” — Lloyd Alexander
It's the 21st century and yes, I have a library card (cue laughter). I've heard people say that they hate to spend their money on a book they'll only read once, and then throw on a shelf. Get a library card! Really, I mean it. Go to your local library and get yourself registered. If you have a tablet/kindle/smartphone etc., you can check out books online, for free! "They let you try it free, it must be good!"
If you find a book that really speaks to you, then go ahead and purchase it. I can bet that you'll enjoy giving it an other read in a few years.
Here are a few titles that I have enjoyed at several different stages of my
life.
